Research
I have considerable experience in clinical research, starting from my work at the metabolic bone disease unit in Nottingham. I was awarded a MD by thesis for this work and have continued to be involved in clinical research around the area of metabolic bone disease and rheumatology. Since my consultant appointment I have continued to carry out original work despite extensive clinical commitments.
The main themes of research that I am currently leading are:
  1. Falls and osteoporotic fractures
  2. Anorexia nervosa and osteoporosis
  3. Oestrogen treatment of osteoporosis
  4. Vitamin D and musculoskeletal disorders
  5. Type 2 diabetes and osteoporotic fractures
